I was born in London into a family of artists. I have always been creative. I gained a degree in Film and Video Production from West Surrey College of Art and Design in the early eighties. I have worked freelance in the camera department since 1984.
I cut my teeth as a camera assistant and focus puller on feature films, pop promos, documentaries and TV dramas such as Poirot and London's Burning. I continue to pursue a successful career as a lighting cameraman, continuing to work in all genres of the industry .
I especially love working in the underwater environment. I have a keen interest in wildlife photography which has always informed my work. Through early trips filming wild dolphins in the Red Sea to Sea Gypsies in Sulawesi. It has taken me from Moscow to Indonesia, The Red Sea to the South China Sea, by way of the Manchester Ship Canal, where I 'drowned' Coronation Street's
evil Richard Hillman in a stunt watched by 20 million viewers. This has lead to a lucrative career filming various soap stars meeting watery ends
I am passionate about capturing outstanding images, and I am constantly striving for perfection. I am experienced in 35mm and 16mm film production and video acquisition from DVCam to HD and 4K RED.
I enjoy the challenge of working in a broad spectrum within the business, from Commercials and Title sequences, to observational documentary and underwater filming.
So far I have worked in over 35 countries worldwide, and have an enormous breadth of experience in diverse situations, (both wet and dry).
Breaking news. I have designed a deep water housing for the RED ONE camera!
